The project
ALX was tasked with migrating the online article archive of one of the largest Polish newspapers, "Rzeczpospolita", from a custom solution to a dedicated media system CMS Saxo Mediaware Center. We created a solution that transmits all articles added to the current CMS to the new solution in real time.
Main project goals
- Migration of 9 years' worth of articles with their binary attachments, such as images, photographs and worksheets;
- Filling in missing IPTC information in photographs with data from the source database;
- Converting old taxonomy to a new one, used in the new solution;
Challenges
- Auditing and cleaning up article and author database;
- Extending the old CMS with export-ready features;
- Maintaining work continuity;
- Designing migration schedule based on usage statistics;
